Alright guys, here we go. The judges are done and well...
I admit disappointment to having ranked 8th out of the final grouping, but you know...there's actually a part of me that would have been upset to have won one of the top three slots in this final round. I look back on what I turned in and I see a lot of errors; I know I could have done better than I did, even though I was sick as a dog and still trying to work my 40+ an hour night job while working on this thing. I did manage the two days off and they did give a 24 hour extension, but where some of it all fell, I was too far in at one point to go back and fix anything where it went wrong. My inking got shaky in some places (because yeah, this is almost ALL hand inked the old fashioned way) and that did cost me points with EJ Su, but where the man's right, he's right. I also ran into problems with the cover resolution, somehow. I miscalculated somewhere and ended up having to sacrifice spacing on either side to make it fit and that hurt my score as well. That was more like an honest "oops" than something done deliberately, really. Heh. (In fact, I'm still not even sure HOW that happened...it kind of boggles me.)
One judge also seemed a little shocked at what I did to Ravage, asking what the heck I was doing to him. ...well, jeez, I fed him to Grimlock! XD I probably should have reigned in my quirky creative side more on this one.
And unfortunately, as usual, the IDW forums won't let me see what anyone else did. Urgh. I'll either have to muck with them a bunch so they will or just use DA here to see what the other entrants did.
So, what now? Well, I look at it this way. The pros have seen my work, they gave me some crit and some ideas on how to improve and...I'll keep drawing. I'm actually more disappointed in myself for where I mucked up as opposed to where the harsher crit fell. So I'll mark this wraparound as another step in my personal evolution and aim higher. Expect to see some crazy shit from me down the line because I know I can do it, now, even if my crazy shit is still in need of work. Just means I need to do it more! And I may have come in 8th...but that'd be 8th out of 250 other entrants who started running with me when we all hit the ground at the start of this thing. I'm a Top Ten, dangit, I'm gonna wear that badge like a well earned battle scar!
(And no, I'm not going to color this beast...LOL. I figure if I'm going to color something this complicated, I'd rather do something better that's worth the coloring time. Hehe.)

Put it in there for you, dude. I actually had to get the original G1 toy off the shelf for reference because NO ONE draws the dang thing on him at all! D:
This is amazing! Wow, breathtaking just doesn't begin to cover it! All of the action, and that's a heck of a lot of drawing! Someone give the gal a stamp for her DA acct - Top ten IDW cover contest (or whatever the official title was) cause you so earned it! And ya, I like Ravage getting chewed on too

omp *dies from awesome overload* XD I luv Ratchet lmao! And I think Ravage gettin chomped on is a creative approach. I mean, they always draw him in the same pose on everything else, sheesh. I really love this, and I don't blame you for not wantin to color it XD That'd be insane! Well, maybe not...cause we're all insane here...mmm...
Anywho, bottom line. Awesome pic, dun care what the judges say. :3 At least yer thru the contest now!

Well done! I figure I'd post here than over at CiD. You have to remember, you had the skills to make it all the way to the final round, and some of us would have killed to do so... not that I condone physical violence but... Damn, you got your stuff looked at by the pros, the people paid to make the magic happen. That's something fantastic I think.
Also, I have to say I love the way you did this assignment! Feeding Ravage to Grimlock, having the geriatric medi-bot performing jet judo, Prowl getting taken down from behind, and Blaster just hanging on. All these little wonderful moments make this image fantastic for me.
I have a picture that I'm working on the colors for right now, but when that's done, I'm going to take on this monster!
Once more, I have to say, this pic is amazing and you should be damn proud of it! I salute you, and may you wear your battle scar with pride.
