Egads, this wore me the hell out. Did about 90% of the flats the other day and the entire rest of it today...after dealing with six hours of customer service at work. AARGH!

Anyway, my submission for this year's Gold Digger Swimsuit Annual (GD is an Amerimanga comic by Fred Perry, if you didn't know). Hopefully, this thing'll actually reach AP before the deadline. @_@;

And no, I don't know how the top of Jetta's swimsuit is working...it just looks sexy. Heh.

You did this for the Gold Digger Swimsuit Annual? Sweet! This is AWESOME! (Makes MY coloring job looks ammature :dohtwo: shucksville)

I'm very impressed with the detail of the fur on BOT of 'em... It looks like actual HAIR on them. And I have no idea how y'all did the glow/reflection off their 'skin' against the water :confused: The detail on the boulder and the foliage is just totally... realistic. I often wonder how most digital artists achieve that/those look(s) -- especially on the rock... AND the leaves. I already have a hard enough time trying to do them by hand rather than by filters ^^;

...No, I wasn't thinkin' how th' bathin' suit top was functioning; I'm jus' amazed at the delicate shading y'all put in there. Ooh! Ooh! And the gold rings are very realistically metallic, alright!

Man, how ya do it, woman?! It's beautiful! I hope it gets accepted.

You draw them 1,000 times better than Fred Perry could ever hope to. :P Seriously. I hate the man's style these days.

Hopefully it'll actually get there in time... Looks like I'm gonna have to do the burn CD thing with it and this computer's burner is a little screwy, so might have to jump through a few hoops to get it done, ie transfering it to the roommie's Mac and having her burn it off.

Actually, I gotta agree. And I think it's because he's doing so much, anymore. Stopped by the AP website last night to see that he's now taken on NHS, as well. =/ Personally, I think his best GD work was probably during the B/W issue stage, probably between like issues 25-45 or somewhere abouts that neighborhood.

The fur thing is easy enough... Just a combination of using a very tiny airbrush with a tablet to hatch in some of the areas and in places like Jetta's forward leg where I used large, broad strokes for the rendering, I just went back in with a tiny smear tool and scribbled down against it to push and pull the light and dark areas against each other.

The leaves are just a custom paintbrush with 35-50 steps "fade to transparent", brushed over one another again and again in varied shades and tints of greens (with a little bit of blue gradiant over them to keep the lighting consistant). And the glowing "water reflection" against the characters' legs was just donw by selecting their lower halves with the lasso selection tool, getting a light blue radial gradiant (fade to transparent) and drawing it vertically up against the selection from the water's surface (so that the gradiant overlapped the characters only and nothing else).

Yup, thought so...

Now there's the factor of 'practice makes perfect' as well, right? Heh heh.

Ah, from Antartic Press? I have some of their drawing books. I'd have to agree that you draw better than him. I hope this wins, it's incredible. Law defying bathing suits are funny!
